Brenda Morie

Brenda Morie is a seasoned multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and recording artist with over 30 years of international touring and studio experience. Originally from Edmonton and now based on Canada’s west coast, she is a Canada Council grant recipient and the artist behind the jazz album Meant to Be. Brenda has collaborated with iconic musicians including Amos Garrett, Nancy Sinatra, Ben Tucker, and The Honourable Tommy Banks, Officer of the Order of Canada. She currently teaches at the Victoria Conservatory of Music and performs with Soulfire, The New Swiftsure Big Band, Beezwild Duo/Trio, and leads her own jazz trio and quartet—offering a diverse blend of jazz, Latin, funk, and roots-infused music.

Soul Fire is a Victoria based dynamic musical ensemble that ignites the stage with an electrifying fusion of diverse musical influences. Drawing inspiration from the soulful melodies of Nina Simone and the intricate rhythms of Joe Sample, and funk of Herbie Mann, the band seamlessly blends elements of jazz, funk, and Latin grooves to create a sound that is both rich and captivating.
